Director, Federal Programs
Karyn has over 25 years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) computer systems field with a particular emphasis on cybersecurity, security workforce development, project management, and information systems risk management. Karyn has a Bachelor of Science in Math/Computer Science and is matriculating a Masters in Cybersecurity from University Maryland University College. She has an in-depth understanding of: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework and associated Special Publications (SP) (e.g., SP 800-53A, SP 800-53, SP 800-30), security control assessments and Federal Civil Agency security program policy. Karyn develops security training curriculum for her varied clients, delivers and facilitates large-scale conferences and has led security program maturation for Department of Commerce, NIST, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Energy (DoE), and Department of Education (ED).
As the Director for Federal Programs, Karyn has been instrumental in assisting the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with solidifying the agency’s security profile via enterprise-wide cybersecurity workforce enrichment, cybersecurity and privacy procedure development and security control assessments.
