ARLINGTON, Va., August 12 -- Lunarline, Inc. has been awarded multiple contracts to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). These contracts and sub-contracts include medical devices, sensor systems, DoD specific applications, and enterprise integration efforts.
Lunarline’s vendor contracts are to perform system security engineering to ensure that the systems/applications are DoD 8500.2 compliant, as well as build the DIACAP package justifying as such.  Lunarline works with vendor systems destined for installation within Navy, Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps environments.  Lunarline brings their over-arching department-level understanding of the DIACAP, focusing on DoD intent to bear in individual service implementations of the certification and accreditation (C&A) process.  This approach ensures department-level goals and objectives are met along with the nuances of the services’ implementation guidelines.
“Lunarline is involved in both the system hardening as well as the C&A of the systems.  We obtain intimate insight to the vendor’s way of conducting business and are able to minimize the effect of compliance activities while helping to create processes that will be sustainable over time, said Jennifer Hawks, Senior Security Engineer at Lunarline.  “The result is an IA-compliant hardened system with configuration management and continuous monitoring capabilities that meet, or more often exceed, DoD standards.”
In addition, Lunarline is designated as a DIACAP Fully Qualified Navy Certification Agent/Validator.  This Corporate Navy designation is not easily obtained, in that many qualifications and certifications must be formally presented to the Navy CA (SPAWAR) and ODAA (NNWC) for approval.  This designation provides a valuable benefit to Lunarline’s Navy customers as the designation validates Lunarline’s qualifications in implementing the DIACAP per Navy requirements and instructions.
As a Fully Qualified Certification Agent/Validator, Lunarline works on behalf of DON Program Managers and other DON system sponsors to ensure that Navy Information Technology systems and associated vendor products meet DoD/DON Information Assurance requirements.  Lunarline assists clients through the DIACAP by way of providing system security engineering expertise; performing  IA- testing validation and remediation activities; building DIACAP packages complete with Navy specific documentation requirements; and serves as the liaison between the DoD sponsor/client and the Navy’s C&A approval chain.
